RemoteTV — Privacy Policy

RemoteTV does not collect, store or transmit any personal data. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising and no server operated by the developer. Everything the app does happens on your device and on your local network.

What the app does

RemoteTV is a remote control for Vidaa and Hisense televisions. To work, it:

• looks for televisions on the network your phone is connected to, by checking which devices have the TV remote-control service open (TCP port 36669);
• opens a direct, encrypted connection to the television you choose;
• sends the button presses you make — volume, channels, navigation and so on — to that television.

All of this traffic stays inside your own network, between your phone and your television. None of it travels over the internet.

Information stored on your device

The app saves one thing: the local network address and name of the last television you connected to, so that it can reconnect automatically the next time you open it. It is kept in the app's private storage on your device and is removed when you uninstall the app.

If you have Android Backup switched on, this preference may be included in your device's encrypted Google backup, in the same way as data from any other app. The developer has no access to those backups.

Information collected by the developer

None. The app does not collect personal identifiers, contacts, location, photos, files, usage analytics, crash reports or advertising identifiers.

RemoteTV has no backend: there is no server belonging to the developer for the app to send anything to.

Third-party services

None. The app contains no analytics library, no advertising library and no crash-reporting library.

Permissions

• INTERNET — needed to open the network connection to your television. Despite its name, this permission is what Android requires for any network socket, including purely local ones.
• ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE — used to determine which network the device is currently connected to.

Neither permission is used to send data outside your local network.

Children

The app is not directed at children, and it collects no information from anyone, of any age.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this same address with a new “last updated” date.
